How the process works

When a death occurs in Romania and repatriation is required, the process is standardized but strictly regulated. Every country of destination has its own consular formalities, transit rules and coffin specifications. We coordinate every step so the family — usually thousands of kilometers away — has one point of contact and one final price.

1. First call and case opening. One phone call to +40 770 991 991 or WhatsApp. English-speaking coordinator opens the case, requests basic documents by email.
2. Death certification and Romanian paperwork. If the death was at home or unexpected, our forensic doctor certifies. Civil registry issues the death certificate.
3. International embalming. Performed in an authorized facility. Certificate issued by our licensed thanatopractor — required by every international carrier and destination country.
4. Sealed zinc coffin. Interior zinc coffin sealed by a licensed welder in the presence of a DSP representative. Exterior wooden coffin for transport.
5. Consular authorization. Mortuary passport (laissez-passer) and destination-country consular clearance obtained through the relevant embassy in Bucharest.
6. Transport. Air freight (via Otopeni, or regional Sibiu / Cluj / Timișoara / Iași) or road transport across Europe with an authorized funeral vehicle.
7. Arrival handoff. Our partner funeral house at destination receives the coffin, handles customs and hands over to the local ceremony team.
